Winch Lane Surgery

How to register

Generally, we will only accept new patients living within the Practice catchment area.  Please ask at Reception if you are unsure whether your address is within our area.

We will not refuse to accept you on the grounds of race, gender, social class, age, religion, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition.

You will be issued with a New Patient Pack – this includes a Registration Form and “Health Questionnaire” – and be given an appointment for a Health Check

The Health Check is a 10-15 minute free medical examination involving a few simple screening tests for conditions such a high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney disease.  It is also an opportunity to discuss any health needs, concerns or medication.

Personal Lists and Rights of Patients to Express a Preference of Practitioner

The Doctors operate a “personal list” system which means that wherever possible you will be seen by your own Doctor unless he or she is away on holiday, study leave etc.  However, you will be registering with the Practice rather than with an individual Doctor.  Although you have the right to say which Doctor you would prefer to see, we encourage patients to see their usual Doctor for a more personal service particularly for ongoing problems.
